Monteiro Lobato's work was a big part of my childhood, part of my passion for reading and fantasy stories started with reading his work. What makes it magical to me, it's not only the presence of fantastical creatures, but having these stories happen in a very Brazilian setting: Dona Benta's ranch.
As someone who have spent a lot of my childhood in grandparents farm, reading about the adventures of Pedrinho, Narizinho and Emília in a similar setting contributed a lot to the development of my imagination.

Now, as an adult, and a professional illustrator, I remember these tales with fondness and nostalgia. Even today, they still inspire me.
